Reporting to: Commercial Director
Salary: Dependant on experience, up to £33k
Hours: Core hours, Monday to Friday
Location: Barnwood, Gloucester

About the role

The Regulation & Compliance Analyst will be one of the very first employees trusted to build and shape exactly how the company operates. Regulation & Compliance is a critical part of ensuring an energy supply business functions correctly, and we're wanting a talented individual to be a part of that setup.

The role will span both energy retail and industry regulatory and compliance areas, helping to ensure that as they roll out their unique AI battery proposition to customers, they're always on the front foot, and doing it right.

This is a hands-on role and will form a key part of a small and unique commercial team. We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a large remit, who wants to be a part of something incredibly exciting from the beginning. Although predominately a regulatory and compliance function, an analytical skill set is extremely beneficial, particularly in relation to building or operating commercial models.

Regulation & Compliance Analyst Key accountabilities:

  • Ensuring company compliance of Industry Codes, Ofgem Supply License Conditions and UK Legislation
  • Monitor the energy industry for upcoming regulatory changes, and communication of this to internal stakeholders
  • Main representative for externally facing Social Energy Supply compliance and regulatory requirements, helping us to shape UK energy policy
  • Helping to develop, analyse, and deliver regulation specifications into how we want to operate our storage portfolio
  • Helping to support the business in key regulatory change
  • Ensure time-line submissions of all relevant external reporting requirements
  • Management of green certificates (ROCs, REGOs and Green Gas Certificates) where required
  • Ensuring internal processes, procedures and documentation are correct and are audited
  • Assisting in other back-office trading functions, such as trade life-cycle processing, nominations etc.
  • Helping to develop analytical models, such as pricing strategy models, cost stack forecasts etc.

You will have;

  • Previous experience in an energy supply compliance function, ideally both industry facing, and retail facing experience
  • Solid understanding of both electricity and gas UK gas industry
  • Understanding of balancing services, including FFR, Balancing Mechanism, imbalance trading etc
  • Practical knowledge of Supplier License Conditions, industry codes, GDPR
  • Ideally, knowledge of renewables certificates, and Ofgem obligation requirements
  • Excellent and straightforward communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Proven ability to adapt to a changing and sometimes challenging environment
  • Very strong organisation skills and the ability to work autonomously

Ideally, you will also have

  • Experience in developing commercial analytical models relating to the energy industry
  • Strong analytical skill set, particularly Excel, but preferably also SQL, PowerBI
