Main Components Wind Turbine Technician

Cathcart Energy are recruiting for an experienced Main Components Wind Turbine Technician to work for a multi-national Renewable Energy company.

The role would be to assist the Engineering Department in the delivery of all Large Corrective tasks as requested by our client base throughout the UK/Ireland region. The successful candidate will be required to provide technical assistance to help to resolve ongoing issues or to implement improvements. We are looking for candidates who have a strong Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering background and experience in the Wind Industry, which should include;

  • Lead and be part of main component replacement teams
  • Proficient in analytical fault finding
  • Can assist with the resolution of onsite technical issues and implement technical improvements
  • Proven experience in changing gearboxes, transformers and generators within a turbine
  • Identify and specifying tooling requirements
  • Preparation of reporting templates and other technical documentation
  • Has worked in a health and safety focused environment.

As well as the above, our client welcomes applicants who have come from Heavy Plant environment or The Armed Forces, particularly the Royal Air Force.

Candidates should be IT literate with a strong working knowledge of the MS Office suite.

Experience in heavy lifting operations within the wind industry, blade and yawning changes and knowledge of WTSR would also be advantageous.

Candidates must have a minimum of a professional qualification and proven practical experience in an associated discipline. Experience if turbine/engineering inspection or testing would also be advantageous.

For this position a full driving licence is essential, as is the ability to travel in the UK and Ireland for periods during the week.

As this position will be based in the UK and Ireland, candidates should be proficient in the English language, both written and verbal.

Much of our clients projects are currently around Glasgow and the Scottish Central Belt, however they are willing to accept applicants from around The UK who are happy to travel to site.

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience.
